Everything we have is God’s…
Everything we have is ours to manage and enjoy as we bless others.
This really is the best way to recap our last series. We need to get to a place in our lives that we understand God’s PURPOSE in why He has blessed us, remember that God’s PROVISION is all that we need to have faith in, and that if we follow God’s PLAN, He promises that we will EXPERIENCE TRUE LIFE!
Teach those who are rich in this world not to be proud and not to trust in their money, which is so unreliable. Their trust should be in God, who richly gives us all we need for our enjoyment. Tell them to use their money to do good. They should be rich in good works and generous to those in need, always being ready to share with others. By doing this they will be storing up their treasure as a good foundation for the future so that they may experience true life.
1 Timothy 6:17-19
“BY DOING THIS” and “EXPERIENCE TRUE LIFE” are the keywords in the verse. God has never fallen short on delivering His ideals and plans to us through His Word. But it’s up to us to put those ideals into practice – only then can we experience the abundant life He wants us to live.
Experience is #MyOneWord for 2015. Why? Because I don’t just want to know more about God, I want to experience Him more. I don’t just want to know more about His love and generosity to me, I want to experience it in my life.
We’ve already begun receiving stories in from folks that attended the final message in our God’s series (sorry that online viewers won’t get the extra bonus – but you can still put it into practice), as we passed out almost $11,000 in $20, $50, and $100’s to our partners to help them TAKE A FIRST STEP in God’s Plan. Here are just a few of the comments and stories we’ve heard and seen:
“My $20 that I received today went to a childhood friend to help with her fight for cancer.”
“My envelope contained a 50.00 dollar bill! I was so excited to bless someone that as soon as I got home I went to a friends GoFundMe site for their mission trip to Kenya and blessed them with the $50 I was given. I then wanted to add to the blessing and went to another friends GoFundMe website for her mission trip to Kenya and blessed her with $50. This felt so good to do. Thanks for the powerful lesson today. I love my church family! I know God will use these people to do great things in His name on their trips.”
“It was inspiring or maybe inspirational. I plan to donate the money in honor of Journey and also plan to double my envelope and give it back to Journey next week. Leadership team: you’re my kinda crazy! Keep it up.”
“I was a GUEST AT JOURNEY this morning. I had the pleasure of receiving one of the envelopes that Pastor Matt handed out. My grand-daughter and I discussed who would be in need of $50.00 and decided that “Hope House’ in Huntersville would be a perfect place. The caretaker who answered the door was very surprised and she continued to ask me questions about Journey. What a wonderful thing you are doing for the community!”
These stories, in addition to several Facebook posts and tweets, are already starting to come in, and this is just the beginning.
As folks begin to Invest Intentionally, Give Generously, & Love Lavishly, my prayer is that they will EXPERIENCE something they’ve been looking for, and will continue to humbly point everyone to absolute Hope through their generosity.
